Privacy Policy
Zentel carries private conversations, so we collect as little as we can, protect what we hold, and explain plainly what happens to it.
Last updated: 15 September 2026
1.Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Zentel collects when you use our applications and websites, why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Zentel apps for iOS, Android, Windows and web.
2.Data we collect
- Account data — phone number or email, display name, profile photo, and language preference.
- Service metadata — who you called or messaged, call duration, timestamps, and delivery status. This is required to route traffic and bill correctly.
- Virtual number data — numbers allocated to you and, where a regulator requires it, identity or address documents.
- Payment data — credit purchases and balance. Card details are handled by our payment providers and app stores; Zentel does not store full card numbers.
- Device and diagnostic data — device model, operating system, app version, crash reports, and approximate region derived from IP address.
- Support data — messages you send to our support team.
Contacts are matched on your device where possible. If server-side matching is needed, contact identifiers are transmitted in hashed form and are not used for any other purpose.
3.Message and call content
One-to-one and group messages and app-to-app calls are protected in transit with end-to-end encryption. Zentel cannot read the content of those communications. Undelivered messages are held encrypted only until delivery, and are then removed from our servers. Calls that terminate on the public telephone network cannot be end-to-end encrypted, because the carrier leg is outside our control.
4.How we use data
- Operate, route and deliver messaging, calling and number services.
- Authenticate you and protect accounts against fraud and abuse.
- Process credit purchases and maintain accurate balances.
- Diagnose faults, measure reliability and improve quality.
- Send service communications such as security alerts and billing notices.
- Meet legal, regulatory and telecommunications obligations.
5.Legal bases
Where the GDPR or a similar regime applies, we rely on: performance of our contract with you (providing the Services); legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, service improvement); legal obligation (telecoms and financial record keeping); and consent, where we ask for it — for example optional analytics or marketing. You can withdraw consent at any time.
7.International transfers
Zentel operates globally, so your data may be processed in countries other than your own. Where data leaves a region that restricts transfers, we use recognised safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses together with technical measures including encryption in transit and at rest.
8.Retention
- Account data — kept while your account is active.
- Call and message metadata — retained for the period required by telecommunications and tax rules in the relevant country, then deleted or aggregated.
- Undelivered message content — removed once delivered.
- Diagnostic data — typically retained for up to 12 months in identifiable form.
- After account deletion, remaining personal data is removed within 90 days unless the law requires us to keep it longer.
9.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority.
Many of these actions are available directly in Settings → Privacy in the app. You can also contact [email protected]. We respond within the period required by applicable law and never charge for a first request.
10.Security
We apply end-to-end encryption for in-app communications, TLS for data in transit, encryption at rest, least-privilege access controls, audit logging and regular security review. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a device passcode and keep the app updated.
11.Children
Zentel is not directed to children under 16, or under the minimum age set by local law where that age is higher. We do not knowingly collect data from children below that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact [email protected] and we will remove it.
13.Changes to this policy
We will post any update on this page and revise the date above. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we will notify you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
